Further to my previous post on a chocolate Dalek, this Dalek cake was spotted in a cake shop in York.

There is a lot of buzz about Doctor Who at the moment as to who Mister Saxon is. We know he is to be played by John Simm, and has been name-dropped more times than Tom Jones name-drops Elvis. Mister Saxon is an anagram of “Master No Six”, so is he the Master? (there is debate as to whether there have or haven’t been five previous Masters) Several Vote Saxon sites have popped up, and you can even buy Vote Saxon tshirts. Is this the worst kept secret since the cybermen? We will soon see (assuming there is no further disruption by footy and song contests).

Billy has just received this autograph from David Tennant courtesy of Molly’s Granny and he’s over the moon. The BBC filmed a couple of episodes of the current Doctor Who series at their family house Treberfydd and they took the trouble to ask for an autograph for Billy. Billy can’t thank you enough Rosanne and Roger.

Now I’ve talked before about MAME before and how I’d like to to have a retro space invaders cabinet myself. Some bloke (has to be a bloke) has gone and built the most amazing MAME console that looks like the TARDIS and has a website that shows you how he did it, and how to build your own.

Can you believe it: Derek Acorah has a guest role in the new series of Doctor Who (thanks BDO) SFX quotes an interview for the Manchester Evening News where Derek says he has “just filmed Doctor Who” where “The Doctor finds that spirits and ghosts have invaded the whole of the galaxy so he gets me along to see what we can do about it”. Weird stuff. The scene - inside some spaceship, all filmed in green-middle-of-the-night-oh-vision. The Doctor looks sceptical with a clipboard, and taking readings with his Sonic Screwdriver. Rose looking bored finally glances up at Derek, and says : “What can you see Derek? Can Sam see anything?” Derek - finger pointing from forehead starts marching around: “Ex? Exter? Ex-Ter-Min-Ate. What does that mean Sam?”

Today Billy is six years old. We had a brilliant morning opening his presents and he then had to go to school. So far the things that made the most impact were a magic set, an anatomy figure (you know with lungs that drop out) and some spiderman stuff.

Last Saturday he had a joint birthday party with the twins James and Steven. We hired out a local pavillion and a childrens entertainer called Esther. She got all the kids dancing, and they had a brilliant time doing the hokey-cokey. He got loads of presents from his friends, went to bed late, and thoroughly enjoyed himself. Annie got chicken pox (but enjoyed the party anyway).

Live8 (on party day), Scientists fired some stuff at a comet (Deep Impact), ID Cards still being discussed, G8 Protests happening.

Billy and I have been hooked on the new series of Doctor Who. I can’t wait to see the last episode tomorrow night. The mystery of ‘Badwolf’ has been interesting; I have, however, found a picture of the Rose/Dalek DNA combination - so look if you dare.
